Details

Ether is a 4HP output module, the bridge from your
eurorack system to professional recording and live
environments. A compact, effortless, crystal-clear,
and reliable connection to the outside world, matching
high-end DI box performances.

Eurorack levels are too high for most audio gear. Ether
is calibrated for studio mixers, active speakers, audio
interfaces, recorders, FX pedals, and headphones. It
provides balanced 6.35 mm TRS line-level outputs and
a dedicated 6.35 mm stereo headphones amplifier, with
independent volume control.

Staying true to our DNA, we draw from forgotten past
to innovate. While many premium solutions rely on rare,
expensive transformers, we took inspiration from a
vintage French military radio circuit made for maximum
signal integrity using stable, time-proven components.

The core of the original design is a 1972 op-amp that
looks modest on paper but performs exceptionally well
with precisely tuned resistor and capacitor values. We
adapted the circuit for modern, reliable op-amps while
preserving the strengths of the original design, achieving
some of the lowest noise and distortion levels in eurorack.

Product Safety

General Information:

The completed module is intended for installation in a Eurorack-compatible synthesizer system powered by ±12V and +5V.

1. Electrical Hazards:

• Ensure the power supply matches the module’s specified voltage and current ratings (refer to the product manual). Incorrect voltage can damage the module and pose a safety risk.

• Never connect or disconnect the module while the Eurorack system is powered on.

• Wrong polarity can damage your module or system. Make sure the module is connected with the correct polarity.

2. Heat Generation:

• The module may generate heat during operation. Ensure proper ventilation within your Eurorack case to prevent overheating.

3. Sharp Edges:

• The module’s faceplate and components may have sharp edges. Handle with care to avoid cuts or scratches.

4. Small Parts:

• Contains small parts that could cause a choking hazard. Keep away from children and pets.

5. Compatibility:

• This module is designed specifically for Eurorack-compatible systems. Connecting it to non-compatible systems may result in damage or malfunction.

Installation and Use

• Mount securely in a Eurorack case using compatible screws.

•Use only the included or manufacturer-recommended power cable.

•Connect only when the power is off.

• Follow the module's user guide for instructions on operation. Do not exceed the input/output limits specified.

Environmental Safety

• Dispose of the module, its components, and packaging in accordance with local electronic waste regulations.

Liability Disclaimer

• The manufacturer or distributor is not responsible for any injury, damage, or malfunction resulting from improper installation, use, or modification of this product.

Information regarding DIY Kits:

This kit is intended for adult users experienced in electronics and modular synthesis. Assembly, including soldering, is required. Proper testing and installation are essential to ensure safe and functional operation.

Assembly Requirements

• Soldering skills are required to complete the module.

• Ensure a clean, well-lit, and ventilated workspace free of flammable materials during assembly.

• Use appropriate tools and safety equipment, such as eye protection.

Testing

• Test the module thoroughly for shorts or incorrect assembly before powering it in your Eurorack system. When the unit malfunctions due to incorrect assembly, the entire Eurorack system might be damaged. It's a good idea to test it in a separate case with only that single module.

• Use a multimeter or other appropriate tools to confirm proper functionality.

Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for proper assembly and testing. Contact manufacturer support for assistance if needed.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do! We offer free shipping worldwide with no minimum purchase!

Are the power ribbon cables supplied with the module?
Power cables are included only with built modules and kits. They are not included with PCB & Panel and PCB (SMD pre-soldered) & Panel options.

Are the screws supplied with the module?
No, we don’t. There is no standard for screws—some use M2.5, others use M3, and some prefer knurlies. We have found that most of our customers do not use the supplied screws. So, in accordance with our commitments to reduce waste, we no longer provide screws with our modules. If you need advice on where to source screws, please contact us.

Are the modules easy to solder?
To help you choose projects that match your soldering skills, we’ve created a difficulty scale. You can find it under the DIY infos section on each product page. Before choosing, you can also consult the iBOM in the Files section to evaluate the difficulty yourself.

Regarding SMD soldering, the scale has 3 levels:

  • Level 1 is recommended for beginners who would like to try SMD soldering.

  • Level 2 is recommended for people who have already successfully built a few SMD modules.

  • Level 3 is recommended for people comfortable with SMD. It may contain small and/or tight components, and due to the density of components, designators may not be present on the silkscreen.

Regarding THT soldering, the scale has 3 levels:

  • Level 1 is recommended for beginners who would like to try THT soldering.

  • Level 2 is recommended for people who have already successfully built a few THT modules.

  • Level 3 is recommended for people comfortable with THT soldering. It may contain small and/or tight components, and due to the density of components, designators may not be present on the silkscreen.

Can you repair my BLACK NOISE module?
If your product is within the two-year guarantee, there will be no cost for your repair. If your product is no longer under warranty, we will charge for the cost of the parts and a small fee to cover the time spent on the repair. Please use the contact section of our site, explaining the problems you are having and the purchase date.
